The St. Laurenskerk organ, completed in 1646, was built by G.G. van Hagerbeer in a spectacular case by Jacob van Campen. In 1725, Franz Casper Schnitger transformed the instrument with a rebuild in the North German tradition. Following several other changes in the intervening years, a 1986 restoration by Flentrop returned the organ to its 1725 condition. Helmut Walcha's recordings brought to this instrument deserved world acclaim.
