In February 2009, the Eastman-Rochester Organ Initiative, EROI, the Rochester Chapter of the American Guild of Organists, the Rochester Theatre Organ Society and public radio station WXXI-91.5FM collaborated in a three-day organ orgy with Pipedreams host Michael Barone. Capacity audiences attended events at the Rochester Auditorium Theatre, with its 1928 Mighty Wurlitzer, recorded February 15, 2009; at Sacred Heart Cathedral featuring the 2008 Fritts organ, recorded February 13, 2009; and Christ Church Episcopal featuring the 2008 GoART Casparini Project organ, recorded February 14, 2009.
A prior broadcast Pipedreams Live! in Rochester (Part 1) #0942 was derived primarily from the Friday and Saturday night church concerts, and though we return to those venues here, briefly, our main focus is on theatre organ music from the Rochester Auditorium. Additional performances from that venue, by David Peckham, No Remaining Seats, and Jonathan Ortloff with Allan Ward, Clang, Clang, Clang, are available in CD format, too.
David Baskeyfield’s mention of the Blackpool Ballroom deserves further exploration, what a place to discover the theatre organ!
Randall Harlow has created a fantastic online documentation of his summer 2008 research of the Organ Culture in Greenland, and we encourage you to check it out!

Our audio technicians discovered, too late, an unfortunate electrical grounding problem which introduced some noise into the recording made at the Rochester Auditorium. We hope this does not detract too much from your pleasure.
