Previous programs featuring the organs of the Saint Paul Cathedral, which date back to the very beginnings of these PIPEDREAMS broadcasts, can be accessed in our archive, 24/7.
Recordings by engineer William F. Lund and Alan Stricklin were made over a period of years, featuring the Cathedral instruments in their original condition and following the recent expansion of the gallery organ by Quimby Pipe Organs, Inc. In addition to some tonal additions, the Aeolian-Skinner now boasts new casework by Duncan Stroik, designed in the style of the Cathedral’s architect Emmanuel Masqueray.
The Stephen Paulus organ duet, The Triumph of the Saint, recently has been recorded by the couple who commissioned the work back in 1994, Elizabeth and Raymond Chenault (Gothic 49292). You also can view the three scenes by Renaissance painter Hieronymous Bosch upon which the Paulus score is based: (The Flight and Failure of Saint Anthony; Saint Anthony in Meditation; and Temptation of St. Anthony.
