Recorded primarily on January 29, 2012 at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church in Mahtomedi, MN, these performances feature the 4-manual, 108-rank 1927 Casavant-2001 Schantz pipe organ, one of the grandest instruments in the upper Midwest.
PIPEDREAMS made its nationwide debut with a ‘pilot series’ of 14 programs aired during the first week of January 1982. At that point, there was no plan for a continuation. Only later, commencing in October 1983, did PIPEDREAMS return to the airwaves as an ongoing, regular weekly presence. These performances celebrated PIPEDREAMS’ first 30 years…but time does not stand still, does it? In 2017, we’ve reached a 35th year milepost. Ever onward! But if you are curious about what PIPEDREAMS may have sounded like in its first season, check it out here.
